Naturally occurring microorganisms blanket the earth; they are in our water, soil, and in our bodies. They produce enzymes and other catalysts that accelerate and regulate almost all biological processes which impact the cycle of life and help keep the environment in balance.

We have identified and commercialized specific microorganisms (“environmental isolates”) that provide solutions to some of the most globally significant environmental and health challenges of our time. Our products are some of the leading environmentally sound products in two categories: Agriculture Earth Alive Soil Activator TM) and Mining EA1 Dust Suppressant.

Meeting the needs of a growing human population while halting climate change and reversing environmental degradation has become the focus of the international community. The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) provide the framework for global sustainable development over the next 15 years. The SDGs recognize the role of the private sector in providing knowledge, expertise, technology and financial resources to support the achievement of the SDGs in all countries.

We have committed ourselves to actively partner in global efforts to improve sustainability in agriculture and mining. As a member of the United Nations Global Compact, we believe that corporate sustainability starts with a principled approach to doing business, and a commitment to operating in ways that address fundamental responsibilities in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption. The UN Global Compact’s Ten Principles are derived from the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, Rio Declaration on Environment and Development, and the United Nations Convention Against Corruption.

Sustainable Agriculture Solutions

Agricultural practices need to evolve to sustainably meet growing global demand for food without irreversibly damaging the world’s natural resources all while maintaining food security – even in a time of climatic changes and extremes. Simply put, rising food yields must be decoupled from unsustainable utilization of water, energy, fertilizers, chemicals, and land. Investing in sustainable agriculture is one of the most effective ways to simultaneously achieve the SDGs related to poverty and hunger, nutrition and health, education, economic and social growth, peace and security, and preserving the world’s environment. The following briefs offer examples of how Soil ActivatorTM has been used to reverse environmental degradation and improve livelihoods.

Sustainable Dust Control

Minerals are essential for modern living, and mining remains their primary mode of extraction. One of the main constraints to sustainability in mining is the consumption of finite resources – such as water – necessary to extract and process metals, and the intense pollution generated by the extraction process. Particulate emissions (PM10) from every stage of the mining process harm local environments and negatively impact the health of local populations, and addressing this issue requires large amounts of water or harmful chemicals. The following brief offers examples of how EA1 Dust Suppressant has been used to improve environmental performance.
